In my quiet time a
few weeks ago I found myself reading about the Israelite’s exodus from Egypt.~
Do you remember the ten
plagues God sent on the Egyptians to encourage them to free the Israelites?
Hail, locust, flies, darkness, Nile turned to blood, etc…? One of the plagues
was the plague of frogs. The Bible says there were frogs everywhere – can you
imagine how messy?~ I FEEL SURE
Mrs. Pharaoh put plenty of pressure on old Pharaoh to get rid of the frogs.~
Finally Pharaoh summons Moses and said, “Okay Moses, I give up.” So
Moses asked,
“When do you want me to get rid of the frogs?”
And Pharaoh’s answer was odd – he said, “Tomorrow”
(see Exodus 8:9,10).~ In fact, there’s a
famous sermon based on this text called
“One More Night With the Frogs.”~
How would you like to spend one more night with the frogs?~ Why in the world
would anyone put off a change that was going to be so positive?~ If I were
Pharaoh, I would’ve said, “Get rid of the frogs yesterday!” - but no,
he said,
“Tomorrow” .~ You and I do this all the time – we put off
changes that we know would be good for us.~ Here’s what I’m driving at –
Jesus Christ has the power to make changes in your life right now – today.~
Maybe you’re overwhelmed by your problems.~ The resurrection reminds us no
situation is hopeless.~ You don’t have to be controlled by your circumstances
– give your self completely to God – today, right now. Open your heart to his
love today - right now and let his transforming resurrection power become a
reality in your life.
