“Working as A Team”
Hebrews 10: 19 - 25
I read an article some time back, and I don’t recall the writer, but it sure caught my attention. It went something like this: “Mom, the sink is leaking again.” “That’s it! I’m calling the plumber,” Mom said. [Dad had tried several times to fix it - no success]
The plumber arrived, and after replacing a pipe, the plumber said to the Mom: “You’ll save yourself a lot of money, if you call us before your husband tries to help. It take’s more than some plumber’s cement and duct tape to fix a water leak, where the pipe has rusted inside and pin holes come through.” Beloved, these kind of ‘fixes’ provides only temporary help. There is help here, in the Word; to fix the life that is “leaking,” not growing is grace and knowledge.
I believe Paul (I attribute it to Paul) here in Hebrews 10:23, clears away all the surfaces fixes and goes straight to the internal cleansing we need. “Let us HOLD FAST ...” - be persistent in “.. the profession of our faith..” Beloved, we are called to creatively help someone grow. I am praying for the day that all professing Christians who live in the broad area of between radiant victory and defeat, learn the secret of entering “into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which He hath prepared for us,...” (V.19-20).
Do you watch NASCAR, Racing? It amazes me that the pit crew can changes tires in just a few seconds, and these few seconds can mean the win or loss of a race. How do they accomplish this - working as a team. I wonder how pleased God is with our “pulling into the pit, the church,” and how we are getting the job done? Does He see us as a team of Christians. I believe we Christians are a part of the greatest team there is, BUT, (you knew this was coming) again, are we holding “...fast the profession of our faith without wavering”. It is one thing to begin the Christian pilgrimage, it is another to finish the course. Paul points out that members of a local church have an obligation to one another - - and we are commanded not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.
“Abba, thank You for doing a great work for us and in us.” Amen.
