DOORS OF OPPORTUNITY

     One of the most exciting episodes of Kitty and my  life in the past  fifteen years;   the opportunity to attend the "Billy Graham School of Evangelism" in the beautiful mountains of Ashville, NC.   Dr. Graham had just returned from Russia,  and shared with us how  "Doors of Opportunity" are open for the Gospel to be preached.  He also shared with us how the young ministers were so thankful for the opportunity to attend the seminars he sponsored,  to hear the news about  the  love of  God,   how  He will  help us  in  our daily  walk  of  life.

    Dr. Graham's  comments about "Doors of Opportunity" has stayed with me through the years.  We face all kind of doors - some open - some not -some will open automatic - some you have to make an effort to open.  I heard a large lady on TV last week tell how embarrassing it was when she got caught in a revolving door, and she did something about it - she lost over 200 pounds.  I like the automatic doors,  especially when I have my hands full of packages,  but these doors can hurt  anyone who try's   to enter the wrong way;  when someone is entering the right way.

     "Doors of Opportunity;"  God opens doors the same way.  To really understand how His path opens up for us,  He gave us the revealing story found in Joshua 3:8-17.  Joshua and the Isrealites are encamped on the East side of the Jordan River,  looking across at Canaan,  the rich land that God has promised to give them.  But there's a major obstacle between them and what God wants to give them - the Jordan River is at flood stage.  To get what God has promised them they have to cross that river,  and there is no apparent way;  or is there?

     YES.  God tells Joshua (3:8),  "Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: "When you reach the edge of the Jordan's waters,  go and stand in the river."  {If you don't read all the text,  the door will not open}

    This is an amazing scene,  one that has been repeated over the centuries as a child of God has stood at their own Jordan River,  facing a closed door,  an obstacle between them and what they knew God wanted them to do.  It just may be one of those times in your life right now.  You are being told by God,  "It's time to move out;"  He is leading you out of "Your Comfort Zone" into something bigger and better - and yes, more challenging.  Believe God - take Him at His Word,  He'll part the waters."   Beloved,  that door isn't going  to open until you start walking toward it.  Don't just stand there, move out of "Your Comfort Zone."  How many people are depending on you moving through the "Doors of Opportunity?"  There is no time like the present.
