"HIGHER GROUND; THE HIGHWAY OF GRACE"

Several years ago an earthen dam that was built between two good size mountains broke in the Parkwood, Alabama  Community, and the wall of water made a path through the gorge for some quarter of a mile,  taking down everything in its path.  Alabama State Highway 150 was in the path of this wall of water, and one car was swept away with the occupants,  and was found some distance down the gorge.  The occupants died.

Life's floods come in many forms, and many a time the flood brings disaster that carry away much of what we had been depending on.  An illness or death can do that - a lost of ones  job or a broken relationship.  There are many upheavals that come our way and,  they change our lives forever. Also, the flood makes us think for the first time about where is the best place to build the rest of my life.

From the description of this Highway of Grace, I am certain it is a highway I desire to travel. Isaiah describes it this way:  "...it is  the way of holiness .. the unclean will not journey on it ... only the redeemed will walk there" {Isa. 35:8-9}.  This highway leads to Higher Ground, and it never changes, because grace never changes, nor the way of salvation.  The building of the bridge through the heart of Birmingham, Alabama was costly - it required detailed engineering,  but the greatest feat of engineering in the universe is God's purpose of grace.  Only God could make a highway across this desert, called humanity,  reaching to Heaven,  only God could have designed it.

This road has lasted for thousands of years - untold millions have "Walked the King's Highway." yet it is still in good traveling condition - it never needs repair - it has never closed - this is an open highway;  yet multitudes, yes, multitudes continue on the broad way that leads to destruction.  Thank God there is a ramp by which the wayfaring men/women  can get on the King's Highway, and that is when we pass through the cleansing blood of the Lamb slain for our sins.

It is with great joy that I  write this "Our Comfort Zone devotion and declare that there is a way from the city of Destruction to the Celestial City.  God's message to all of us is,  "It's time to move to higher ground."  You were created to travel the King's Highway, built by God Himself.  Beloved, how many people do you know, by their actions, live below the dam {death} that can brake at anytime?  Isn't it time to move out of "The Comfort Zone" and to warn those in the path of destruction;  only the redeemed - the ransomed of the Lord shall walk upon the Highway of Grace into the glory of heaven.

Imagine the glories and the beauty:  "Home at last - Home at Last, we are home at last."
