"THESE EXCITING DAYS"

Yes! Yes! These are exciting days, and I know there are different things that get us excited - that cause us to shout for joy.  I well remember the first new car we {Kitty will say, WE?} bought - four barrel - straight shift - duel exhaust - 56 Chevy.   Man, the hot one was even hotter.  Football, how excited do you get when your team scores a point or a touchdown?  Do you love talking about them?  Do you get excited?

Let me ask, "Are you excited about God - His work?" Do you love Him?  Do you know as much about Him as you do football - your husband - wife - children?  Do you shout for joy and praise His name with joyful song?  I sure hope so.

Now, I did not say it is wrong to shout for your team - to support them - to talk about how great they are.  But the question is; "Do you know you are called to give the same kind of devotion and dedication, in fact more, to the Lord as you do your favorite team?"  Or what ever it is that turns you on.  You are called to glorify the Lord, to spend the same kind of energy on Him.  In fact, he even tells us how to glorify Him.  Where?  Psalms 100.

We are called to glorify the Lord by "Making a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands."  Matthew 12: 34 tells us:  ".. for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."  One's speech reveals one's heart.  Jesus indicates that even the most careless words spoken without thought will testify concerning one's character on judgment day.  God listens to what we say all week, not just on Sunday morning worship service.  All the earth is a proclamation that all creation is to praise Him.  "Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains..' (Isa. 49: 13).

When little James Scott was awarded the part in a school play he had his heart set on,  he said to his Mom:

"Guess what, he shouted:  "I've been chosen to clap and cheer."  "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice."
