"CLIMBING HIGHER" {Part Two}
In last week's devotion I pointed out that Deuteronomy is a book about
remembering, and Moses is calling to mind some of the basic ingredients in
Israel's walk with God; and these ingredients require us, today, to Climb
Higher. Let us continue.
We, like Moses, have received our "Marching Orders," and it is time for us
to move out from 'Our Comfort Zone', and
"Press on,"
Paul said, "toward the mark of your higher
calling in Christ Jesus." It is a blessed
thing to be saved from the wrath to come, but it is a miserable thing never
to get beyond that. The Lord told Moses (Deut. 2: 3),
"..turn you northward." The good land
of promise lays stretched Northward.~ Every day should lead us higher and
higher as soldiers of the cross. If we love Him, we should serve Him. And
this can not be done with a stiff neck, looking at only the things on
earth. Look up and expect the fulfillment of His exceeding great and
precious promises in your daily experiences. Instead of the muck of the
earth, look for the crown of glory.
To God's children there comes this warning (Deut.2:4-5),
"Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren
the children of Esau," and they are also
told "meddle not with them."
Don't meddle in the things of the world; you are living among perverse
people, you are to pass through, don't become involved, don't be a debtor
to the worldly.
I read some time back about a "Ship's Captain" who was offered, by a drug
king pin, a hundred thousand dollars if he would transport drugs. The
captain turned him down. The offer went up to three hundered thousand, and
the captain continued to turn him down. A few weeks later the captain was
offered six hundred million, "And the ships captain called the
police." Later, the drug dealer asked the ship captain, "Why?"
The captain replied: "You were making the offer to enticing, I had
to stop you before I accepted your offer." This can be Satan's
approach also; make worldly possessions enticing.
My friends, "Rise and Shine and give God glory,"
"For the Lord God hath blessed thee in all the
works of thy hand ..thou hast lacked nothing"
(V. 7). You know what? He is
just as mindful of us. He knows the way we take, He was tempted in all
points as we are, and He is touched with our infirmities. He knows our
trials and our suffering. So, now, I ask you: "Will you promise: "Where
He leads me I will follow." Climb Higher - get out of your
"Comfort Zone."
I want to assure you I am concerned about you, your spiritual needs. If
you have a need for a friend in Christ to pray with you, contact me via
e-mail. God bless.
