"THE GUIDEPOSTS OF LIFE"
Yes, I do read "Daily Guideposts" online,
and it is always a blessing. So, I got to thinking about guideposts we
encounter as we make our pilgrimage, and if - IF
we will pay attention to "The Guideposts
of Life" they will lift us from "Our Comfort Zone" and put a sparkle in our
eyes and zip in our step. Yes they will; and this may be a two or three part
devotion ... so here goes:
Many years ago, Kitty and I along with
friends stood on the banks of "Pine View Beach," a place near Bessemer, Al -
a recreation area then. All of us watched in harrow as a man, his wife and
small child's canoe capsized - no life jackets. I can still see the man
struggling to reach his wife - then the child, but he lost the battle, and
with his arms around them they drowned before they could be reached.
Day by day we must make decisions. Decesions,
Decisions, We are constantly being challenged to be loyal to things of the
world, and on the other hand God demands loyalty. Do we need some
"Guideposts" for life? YES, and the Guideposts that I will
suggest must work to give divine direction and power in serving God and
dealing with others. I want these two/three "Guideposts" to be a means of
helping you/me to leave "Our Comfort Zone" - to be a lifejacket to rescue the
perishing. The first one is:
Be guided By The Book.
If we are to be guided by this Book (Bible), then we must read it, we must
meditate upon the Word, and open our heart to the truths as they are given.
We must study our Bible, build it into our life. Saturate, if you please,
your heart with the Word of life.
David cried out to God, the
Shelter (Ps.61: 1-2): "O God; attend unto my prayer
... I cry unto thee .. lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
When we think of the old warrior's of the
faith, most like Moses had faith in God which was a Guidepost - obedience was
another. Moses left the desert country after the burning bush experience with
one desire, to obey God. (See Exodus 3: 2-5; this will bless
your heart).
Paul's salvation was a ever a guide. His
service was a Guideposts. From the day he said,
"Lord, what would you have me do?" until the
day that he laid down his life, he did not vary from the call of God. We need
these Guideposts for our lives, so that our light can shine brightly. Let
your light shine before men; and for this to happen, You Must Leave "Your
Comfort Zone" - trust God and be "Guided By The Book."
{Thanks for the words of encouragement,
and if I can help you in your daily walk with the Lord, let me hear from you}
