My Dear Friends,
As we close in on another year, 2004,
how I wish all who read this "Our Comfort Zone" will hear what the Holy
Spirit is saying. I want to address a question I feel sure most of us
have asked, or thought at some time; "What Will We do In Heaven."
I trust these thoughts will be a blessing, and challenge you to get
out of "Your Comfort Zone."
I believe the year was 1950 or 51, Kitty
and I visited my grand dad Moore - uncle Luther and Lloyd, and all their
family, who lived in Eustis, FL. Kitty and I were young Christians,
searching for God's plan for our lives. This visit, I will never
forget. We sure had good meals, the fellowship was just great. And I
asked lots of questions and, I got not only answer, we experienced love
in action.
I want to touch on two or three
questions I remember I asked, searching for answers to concerns I had as
a young Christian. While visiting with Uncle Luther, I asked him {I
smoked then): "How do you feel about Christians smoking?" I
will never forget his answer, simple and plain. "Roy, when you get
to Heaven you want find any cigarettes buts littering those golden
streets." It took me some time, and with friends prayerful
concern, I quit cold turkey. There is much more to this story. But let
me move on. While visiting with Uncle Lloyd and family I asked him about
Christians tithing. He gave me simple answers, quoted scriptures; but
the best was the example he and Aunt Donnie (s/p) set. I know they went
the second mile, and they prospered I believe because they went the
second mile. Well, all three are in Heaven now {I will have to come
back to Grand daddy Moore}; what are they doing there.
Are they strumming celestial harps,
flying around on wings. John, in his vision, saw three heavenly
activities. At this point, all the thoughts shared are not original
with me, but I sure concur in the answers. It will help if you will take
time to read
Revelation 22:1-5,
now.
The first one is serving, O YES. John
tells us in V. 3 "his servants will serve Him." I don't know what that
service may entail; but this I do know: There will be no sense of
inadequacy, no weakness, no weariness. In heaven we'll have minds
and bodies equal to the task which we're assigned.
The second activity is seeing: We "shall see His face" (v.4).
Now we see in a mirror, dimly", but in heaven we will see our Savior
face to face, and we "shall be like Him.~ This is what Rev. 22:4
means when it says, "His name shall be on heir foreheads."
So to bear His name means to be like Him. In Heaven we will not
struggle with sin but will reflect the beauty of His holiness forever.
We shall serve our King by ruling and reigning with Him "forever
and ever"(V.5).
If you ever wondered, "How can I
get people interested in Jesus?", have
you ever considered the power of positive spirit where you work? Or at
home? At school? Believe me you stand out in a world where smiles are
more and more valuable. Each day, ask the Lord to help you to be know
for your joy - for His joy - radiating in your face. When it comes to
attracting people to Christ, your best weapon just may be your smile,
the life you live, and honest, sincere answers.
This requires all of us as Christians to
get out of "Our Comfort Zone," stand up and be counted for Jesus in
2004. Have a great year with the Lord, and remember He loves you and I
love you.
Roy
